John Richard Schaffer Sr. of Rockledge, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Jefferson Abington Hospital. He was 90 years old. John was born June 23, 1932 in Rockledge, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward Schaffer and the late Anna Schaffer (nee - Bernhardt). Husband to Eileen Schaffer, father to Mary Ramirez (Husband Alan), and John R. Schaffer, JR. Grandfather to Corey Schaffer, Autumn Schaffer (husband Luke Trower), Adrianna Ramirez, and Aiden Ramirez.
Predeceased by his parents and his two sisters Lucille and Margaret.
John served proudly in the United States Navy and was a lover of history and civil war buff.
Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service followed at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940 with military honors rendered by the United States Navy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Battlefield Trust, 1156 15th Street NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20005.
