The following obituary was written by John’s family

John Mathew entered eternal peace on Thursday, February 02, 2023. He is of the Edayaranmula Thekkedathu family and is the son of Late T. M Mathew and late Annamma Mathew. He is survived by his wife, Aneyamma Mathew, and daughter, Jency Raju, and son-in-law, Aju Raju. He is the younger brother of Prof M. Mathew (wife- Prof. Aney Mathew, children - Santhi Anu & Tis Thomas, Prasanth Ben & Feba). He is the elder brother of George Mathew (wife - Lissikutty George, children - Abel George & Sara, Georgy V Mathew).

Josey married Aney on January 19, 1981 and came to the US in 1983. He has been a respiratory therapist for 26 years at Hahnemann University Hospital.

John Mathew was one of the founding members of the Philadelphia Parish of St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India. He took the initiative in registering the parish as a non-profit organization in Pennsylvania in 1987. For the last 35 years he served the parish faithfully in different capacities, as Vice President, member of the Board of Trustees, Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and the representative to Diocesan council, and the Church general assembly. He loved the Lord, the Church, and its mission. He was one of the Board members of the India Jubilee Mission Fund supporting the mission work in India. He had a heart of generosity and many were blessed by it. Like Apostle Paul he has fought "the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, when the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to him on that day- not only to him, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Sunday, February 5th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India, 785 Street Road, Warminster, PA.
There was another viewing period held the follow day, Monday, February 6th form 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with services beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment followed at Pine Grove Memorial Park, 1475 West County Line Road, Warminster, PA
