Rita M. Kopp of Lewes, Delaware fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home. She was 68 years old. Rita was born November 24, 1954 in North Highlands, California, daughter of the late William Aloysius Foster Jr. and the late Elizabeth Lee Foster (nee - Kella). She is the beloved wife of 38 years of Rev. Rodney S. Kopp; mother of Stephen Rittler and his wife Michelle, Daniel Rittler and his wife Jessica, Katherine Parker, and Sarah Huber and her husband Clayton; step mother of Paul Kopp and his wife Jaime, Mark Kopp and his wife Erica, and Daniel Kopp and his wife Shelby; grandmother of 13; and the sister of Theresa Gimpel, Daniel Foster and his wife Karen, and William Foster and his wife Sheila. Rita is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Rita grew up in Levittown, PA and graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1972, having proudly served as Blue Team Captain on Gym Night her senior year. With her husband, Rod, they made Glenside, Pa. the family home. Faith was essential in Rita’s life, and St. Paul’s Lutheran church in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia is where that faith was nourished. While raising her family Rita pursued an undergraduate degree, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Temple University Fox School of Business majoring in Human Resource Management. She was employed for forty years as a Human Resource manager, ultimately attaining the level of Human Resource director for a number of manufacturing companies. Rita loved to knit, crochet, was an avid reader and could often be found curled up with a good book under a warm blanket with a cup of coffee. She adored her grandchildren and the precious time she shared with them. Coastal living in southern Delaware and the endless joy she gained at the beach was the culmination of a life well lived.

Relatives and friends were invited to her memorial of thanksgiving on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5900 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120. Family and friends were invited to gather beginning at 9:30 A.M. Worship began at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, PO Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241 or The Memorial Endowment Fund at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5918 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120.
