The following obituary was composed by Ms. Anderman’s family:
Lynea Anderman was born on March 31, 1962 in Philadelphia PA to the Rev. Thomas E. Anderman and Carol Seltzer Jones Anderman. After graduating from Conestoga Valley High School in Lancaster PA (1980), Lycoming College (1984), and Drexel University (1986) with a Master of Science in Library and Information Science, Ms. Anderman landed her first professional position as Head of Technical Services at Hazleton Area Public Library in Hazleton PA. Shortly thereafter she was hired as the Director of Library Services at Warren County Community College (WCCC) in Washington NJ, a position which she held for 19 years. In 2005, she began a 14-year tenure as Director of Library Services at Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (PIT) in Media PA. She served as President of the Board of Trustees of Pocono Mountain Public Library from 1992 to 2004.
Ms. Anderman was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including serving as Advisor and Honorary Member of Chi Alpha Epsilon, Chi Chapter and of Phi Theta Kappa, Honor Society of the Two-Year College, Alpha Psi Mu Chapter at PIT. She was an Honorary Member of the Alpha Upsilon Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Honor Society of the Two-Year College at WCCC. She was a 2004 recipient of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives Citation for years of “loyalty, commitment” and “dedicated service” to Pocono Mountain Public Library where she served as President of the Board of Trustees from 1992 to 2004.
An avid reader, Ms. Anderman encouraged family members to read by carefully and generously choosing books as gifts based on individual interests and personalities. She loved A.A. Milne characters and collected Winnie-the-Pooh themed decorations for her home and office. She enjoyed researching her Welsh heritage, building her family tree, and learning as much as she could about the British monarchy. Other interests included music, and she relished singing in the soprano section of the Lycoming College Tour Choir during her four years as an undergraduate. She also sang in numerous church choirs, providing solo music on special occasions. Most recently, she spent a great amount of time caring for and regularly visiting her father at Simpson House, a senior adult living community in Philadelphia, until his death six months ago. Because of her frequent visits, she connected well with staff and other residents, and served as a volunteer on the institution’s Embracing Life Steering Committee.
Ms. Anderman is survived by her three older siblings: Clarita A. Krall of Philadelphia (Stanley), Mark J. Anderman (Doris) of Williamsport PA, the Rev. James D. Anderman of Palmyra PA, as well as a large cadre of nieces, nephews, and their families: Lorelei K. Toombs (Stephen), Will and Emma Toombs; Shannan A. Mantegna (Jamie), Parker and Carson Mantegna; Stephen J. Krall (Kelly), Noah, Aaron, and Matthew Krall; Cara A. Dame-Brusie (Matthew), Elsie and Atticus Dame-Brusie; Jenilyn E. Anderman; Philip B. Krall (Kerri), Charlotte and Kellan Krall; Devin A. Burns (Kyle), Felix and Hazel Burns; Alexandra K. Beynon (Andrew), Amelia and Archer Beynon; and Peter S. Krall (Anna). She is also survived by many dear, dear friends who have shared good times with her, making many happy memories.
A viewing took place Monday evening, February 27th from 7 to 9 at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge PA 19046. A funeral service also took place on Tuesday morning, February 28th with a viewing beginning at 10, followed by the service at 11 at Fox Chase United Methodist Church, 201 Loney St., Philadelphia PA 19111. Burial at Schuylkill Haven Memorial Park, 75 Memorial Dr., Schuylkill Haven PA 17972, took place on Wednesday morning at 11:30.
