James William Howard Jr. of Rockledge, Pennsylvania died Friday, March 3, 2023 at Jefferson Abington Hospital. He was 64 years old. James was born August 22, 1958 in Darby, Pennsylvania, son of the late James William Howard and the late Barbara Joan Howard (nee - Stairiker). He is the beloved husband of Karen A. Howard; loving father of Kenneth A. Erhart and his wife Angela, Daniel E. Erhart, and Matthew James Howard and his wife Jessica; doting grandfather of Ava Erhart, Peyton Howard, Riley Howard, and McKenzie Howard; brother of Michael C. Howard and his wife Arlene, the late Paul F. Howard and his wife Kristen, and Christine Howard and her partner Richard Roth. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from Cardinal Doughtery High School in 1976. He was a very talented athlete, and particularly excelled at football and baseball. After high school, Jim obtained his associates degree in 1978 from Millersville State University. He began his career in law enforcement in 1983, working as a police officer for SEPTA. In 1987, he took a job as a police officer for Cheltenham Township. After more than 25 years of service, he retired in 2014.

Jim’s hobbies included golfing, music, going to the shooting range, collecting model trains, cars, and watching sports (especially the Flyers). Above all else, however, Jim adored spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, whom he loved more than words can describe.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Relatives and friends were also invited to his viewing on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church, 820 Susquehanna Road, Rydal, PA 19046.
