Marie Elizabeth Hansen passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 20th, 2023 at the age of 66.  She was born 7/13/1956; Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of John Magiera and Betty M. Magiera.

Surviving are a son, Craig Peter Hansen and his son Johnathan; a daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Rodriguez, and her husband Michael, and their son Jaxon; a daughter Karen Marie Williams, and her husband Walter, and their son Aiden; a brother, Stephen Magiera, and his wife Carol and their 4 children, Stephen, Michael, Daniel and Matthew.

Marie lived the majority of her life in Northeast, PA, having mothered her son there.  Due to business location changes of her then husband, she moved to Stockton, California where she had her eldest daughter followed soon after with a move to Chicago, Illinois, where she had her youngest daughter, and finally circling back to Northeast, PA in 1984.

Marie was educated within the Philadelphia School District and attended Drexel University where she graduated with honors in 1978 with a degree in Bachelor of Science of Business Administration.  She further advanced her education in 2016 with a Masters of Business Administration degree from Holy Family University (a goal that she was determined to achieve, regardless of age) while working full-time at PNC bank as an Underwriting Manager (a position she held since 2009).  As of 2022, she was honored by PNC into the quarter century club, an achievement marked by 25 years with the company.  She was also awarded the officer title of Vice President over a decade before.  She prided herself on her work ethic.

During her life, Marie took pleasure in many hobbies… First and foremost, she loved to travel, with company or solo, and was determined to see as much as possible before she died.  It was a passion of hers to collect a piece of artwork done by a local artist from each place she visited. She also enjoyed The Arts, having attended numerous shows through volunteer work for the Wilma Theatre or as a Theatre Club Member. She also supported breast cancer awareness, having contributed and attended the Susan G. Komen walk for over 15 years.  Lastly, she loved to exercise, for health and overall enjoyment and was very attached to her bike.

Marie loved her family, and was an active and engaged mother and grandmother. She was the matriarch of her family and loved to entertain.  She enjoyed spending time down the shore with her family and venturing out with her children and grandchildren to various museums, zoo's, aquariums and institutes. Marie was selfless, caring and always available when needed, constantly changing or adjusting her schedule to accommodate the needs of others.

She will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 or Parkinson Research Foundation, PO Box 96318, Washington, DC 20090.
