Alan Hunter died peacefully on April 18, 2023 at age 74. Alan grew up in Highland Park NJ, and then moved to Piscataway, NJ, where he lived for many years. After attending Piscataway High School, Alan graduated from the University of Delaware. He worked at the Middlesex County Board of Social Services for 39 years, first as a case worker and later as the administrator of the IT department.

Alan loved being outdoors, whether hiking, biking, kayaking, or cultivating bamboo. He was also a talented potter, who enjoyed many years in the studio at Raritan Valley Community College. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, from trips abroad to local road-trip adventures with his grandkids. Most of all, he loved a good pun.

Alan is survived by his daughter Christine Hunter (Lawrence Mass), grandchildren Benjamin and Noah Mass, sister Nancy Nelson (Lewis), brother Paul Hunter (Janet), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul H. Hunter and Mary C. Hunter.

Donations in Alan’s memory can be made to Oxfam International, 77 North Washington Street, Suite 5-1, Boston, MA 02114 or The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.
