William A. "Socks" Conches Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his home. He was 72 years old. Socks was born June 29, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late William A. Conches Sr. and the late Rose Conches (nee - Gerace). He is the beloved husband of Elaine R. (nee Menginie) Conches; father of Tara (Matt); grandfather of Allison “Bags”; brother of Peter J. Conches Sr.; Uncle of Anna (Bill), Rosina (Al), Roseann, Maggie, Peter Jr., Peter III, Michael, Nicholas, and Dominic.

Bill was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He was a graduate of Southern High School in South Philadelphia and went on to earn his Associates Degree from Philadelphia Community College. He and Elaine grew up around the corner from each other and hung out in the same circles. They were married September 13, 1969 at Epiphany Parish in South Philadelphia. They raised their daughter in the Burholme section of Philadelphia. Bill worked for over 40 years for the City of Philadelphia as a Highway Engineer. He enjoyed fishing, saltwater mainly, with his best friend Joe and later shared his love of fishing with his granddaughter Allison. He would look forward to family hunting trips and playing basketball with friends until covid limited the ability to get together.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His Funeral Mass began at 11:00 A.M. at Presentation B. V. M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012. His graveside service followed at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. William S. Harrison from Presentation B. V. M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012.
