Rudy Frank Schmidt of Mullica Hill, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Spring Hills Post Acute. He was 63 years old. Rudy was born February 19, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Frank Schmidt and the late Emilie Banning (nee - Hillius). He is the beloved husband of Linda Schmidt; father of Elizabeth Schmidt (Chris Derr); brother of Robert Schmidt and his wife Pamela; uncle of Brooke; step-brother of Brian Banning and his wife Sherry and their son Brian Banning and his wife Brittany; Son in Law of Paul and Anna Hoenisch. He is also survived by his many friends and family. Rudy was the loving poppa to his dogs Pepper and Lillie.

Rudy was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He was a graduate of George Washington High School and continued his education at Drexel University and Philadelphia Wireless. Rudy met Linda while playing saxophone in his band at the Danube Swabian Association where she was a waitress and in the dance group. They were married September 18, 1982 at St. Cecilia’s Parish. They started their lives together in northeast Philadelphia and moved to Mullica Hill when their daughter was five years old. Rudy worked for thirty years at Radio Shack as a supervisor and technician in the repair center. He later went to work for Opex Corporation in Moorestown, NJ for ten years as an electrical manager and tech support. Rudy loved to stay busy be it with woodworking, trains, and traveling. He and Linda enjoyed cruises to Bermuda, Europe and Hawaii, driving his beloved Miata up to Connecticut for a pizza, or searching for the best hot dogs and ice cream. He would even rope his friends into a trip for a slice of pizza....at Frank Pepe’s in Connecticut.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. Christopher Walsh from St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center - Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
