Gisela Broughton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at her home. Gisela was born December 19, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Alfred Jansen and Ella Jansen (nee - Gieseler). She is the loving mother of Karen Stark and her husband Art; and Rock and his wife Ilona Broughton; grandmother of Rachel Scalercio and her husband Trevor, Kyle Knappe, Cindy Szijgyarto and her husband Csaba, and Jennifer Nagy and her husband Frank; great grandmother (known as “Oma”) to Easton, Carson, Evelyn, and James.
Gisela was baptized at, and remained a faithful member of Tabor Lutheran Church. She graduated from Olney High School. Gisela worked for Garrett-Buchanan as a shipping clerk for 32 years and was the only female teamster with the company. She was a Girl Scout in Troop 79 and stayed connected with the troop throughout her life. She enjoyed her weekly pinochle games with friends and board games with family. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an extraordinarily generous person who gave her time, resources, and love to many different individuals and organizations. She was always actively helping someone. A child of God.
Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 2:30 to 3:00 P.M. and memorial service at 3:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Jane Marston from Tabor Lutheran Church, 4860 North Howard Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140
