Helmut Joseph Andres (Joe) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, age 78, passed away on June 24, 2023. Joe was born on August 13, 1944 in Salzburg, Austria, son of the late Frank Andres and Eva Andres (nee – Seifred). Predeceased by his devoted wife Mary ann Andres (nee – Fitzpatrick). Loving father of Lisa Lutz (Raymond), and Joseph Andres (Kelly). Beloved grandfather to Madeline and Jack. Loving brother of Rosie Fruehauf (Leo) and uncle of Edward Freuhauf and Linda Martin (Freuhauf).
Joe and his family emigrated to the United States in 1951 eventually settling in Philadelphia. Joe graduated from LaSalle College in 1966 and began his career in the direct marketing industry. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was married to Mary ann in 1968. He and Mary ann settled into the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia where they raised their family. He was a long-time parishioner of St. William Parish. He was a true “foodie” and enjoyed exploring the Philadelphia restaurant scene with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, watching his beloved Eagles and Phillies, crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.
Joe will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. The family would deeply appreciate a mass said in his memory at your local church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be designated to Wounded Warriors.
