The following obituary was written by Eileen’s family

Eileen “Mike” Schaffer of Rockledge passed away Monday August 21st at home surrounded by loved ones. She was 86 years old. Eileen was born August 13, 1937 in Rockledge, daughter of the late Nicholas and Eileen Hearne. Beloved wife of 51 years to the late John Richard Schaffer Sr.; Mother to Mary Ramirez (Husband Alan), and John R. Schaffer, JR. Grandmother to Corey Schaffer, Autumn Schaffer (husband Luke Trower), Adrianna Ramirez, and Aiden Ramirez.

She is also survived by her sisters Patricia Adamow, Maureen McCrimmon and Peggy Grookett. She is predeceased by her sister Karen.

Eileen was Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was raised in Rockledge. She attended St. Ceclia’s Catholic school and attended high school at Saint Basil’s. After high school she went to work for her father at N.F. Hearne Real Estate, Industrial Valley Title Insurance, and Joseph Fasy Real Estate.

Eileen enjoyed summering in Brigantine, New Jersey and was an avid beach lover, and especially fond of feeding seagulls. She will be missed fondly for her sense of humor.

She also had a love of the casinos and knew how to have fun, but her true love in life was her family.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 to 10:50 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Her graveside service followed at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
