Edmund Michael Kirk of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died on August 13, 2023. He was 76 years old. He was born on June 10, 1947 in Philadelphia to Edmund and Theresa Kirk. Edmund was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphila.
Edmund was the beloved husband of Edith. Loving father of Sally, Brian (Lifeng) and Mary Derrickson (Mark). Dearest Grandfather of Michael, Olivia and Joseph.
Edmund attended St. Matthew’s Elementary School, Father Judge High School and graduated in 1971 from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences.
Edmund worked for the City of Philadelphia from 1977 until his retirement in 2008. He worked various roles for the City until becoming a Personnel Analyst.
Edmund loved flying in small planes, watching horse races, and enjoyed his time hosting his own radio show “Feedback” for the Radio Information Center for the Blind (RICB). He loved reading, especially historical, science and math books. Edmund also enjoyed playing board games and card games with his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:20 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. His graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Fr. Christopher Walsh from St. Cecilia Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center - Institutional Advancement Department, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
