Albert John "Al" Tiegs of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at home. He was 87 years old. Al was born May 12, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Albert August Tiegs and the late Margaret Mary Tiegs (nee - Dewey). He is the beloved husband of the late Marguerite Ann Tiegs; Loving father of Mary Beth Tiegs-Christie and her husband Tom, Albert Joseph Tiegs and his wife Sheila, Peggy Ann Tiegs-Buckley and her husband John, and the late Theresa Ann Tiegs; devoted grandfather of Mary Kate, Tommy, and Elizabeth Christie; brother of Margaret Tiegs Higgins and her husband John, Charlotte Tiegs Laughlin and her husband the late Bill, and Ray Tiegs and his wife Sue. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Al was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He was a Firefighter for 33 years with Engine 72 Ladder 29 at 12th and Lauden in Philadelphia. He was also a life long roofer, starting at age 16, who loved to work on roofing and siding projects. Al also enjoyed time on the gun range in his free time. His greatest joy was spending time and creating memories with his children and especially his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 9:00 to 9:50 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church, 820 Susquehanna Road, Rydal, PA 19046. His graveside service followed with military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps. at St. Denis Church Cemetery, East Eagle Road, Havertown, PA 19083.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. Kevin P. Murray from St. Hilary of Poitiers Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
