The following obituary was written by Marianne’s family.

Marianne E. Ruby (85) passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 – finally reunited with the love of her life, the late Charles (Chuck) A. Ruby Jr.

Marianne was the fourth of five Babinetz children raised in Lansford, PA. At the tender age of 7, she lost her beloved father Joseph who heroically made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II – a loss she would remember throughout her life. Marianne spent four of the happiest years of her life exceling in academics and extracurriculars at the Slovak Girls Academy in Danville, PA.

After her graduation, Marianne ventured to State College where her lifelong romance with Chuck began. The happy couple remained die-hard Penn State fans and celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2018. Together, they raised three sons: Keith (Danne), Robin (Ellen), and Tristan (Timothy) and two furry sons: Little Fellow and Bailey. Marianne was the devoted grandmother of Joseph, Matthew (Kayla), Adam (Rikki), and Ty.

Marianne was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church in Fox Chase. She was a daily fixture at early morning Mass and loved looking after her extended church family. Her family and friends were always thrilled to receive the elaborate gift baskets and treat bags she thoughtfully created for every birthday, holiday, and celebration. Her passing will leave a hole in the hearts of many, but memories of her will forever be cherished.

Her Funeral Mass began at 10:30 AM Monday, October 9, 2023 at St. Cecilia’s Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. A visitation was held at the church one hour prior to Mass, beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment followed at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Cecilia’s Church.
