The following obituary was composed by Sandra’s family:

Sandra Jacobs (Wichner) of Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania died on October 16, 2023 at age 85. Sandy was born in Atlantic City, NJ on January 15, 1938 and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and beloved aunt.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Seymour “Sy” Jacobs, daughter Ilene Sofronski, brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Sally Wichner, and stepson Robert “Jake” Jacobs.

Sandy is survived by her children Eric Wichner (Sofronski), Gayle (Joseph) Martin; stepchildren Barbara (Doug) Sapper, Christina Schneider, Leonard Jacobs, and Carla Sofronski; grandchildren Heather Martin, Kyle (Brittney) Martin, Olivia and Rachel Sapper, Claire Jacobs, and Rianna Miller; and great grandchild Ella Marie Martin.

Sandy is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved so very much. Gail (Brad) Kada, Jennifer Kada, and Shawn (Melissa) Kada; Stacey Wichner Payne and Haley Payne; Rick Wichner and Holly Wichner; Nancy Wichner and Dustin Schmidt; Torri Schaffer (Brunswick), Arielle (DJ) Walker, and Eric (Lisa) Schaffer.

Raised in Philadelphia, Sandy was known for always being glamorous and worked in the beauty supply industry to support her three children. Her beloved mother, Gertrude Wichner (Fox) died when Sandy was 13 and then her dear Aunts Ruth and Rose helped raise and support her after that, along with her brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Sally Wichner.

The years beginning when she met and married Sy Jacobs in 1981 were among the happiest. Sy could brighten anyone’s day and they spent many devoted and loving decades together, laughing and spending time with friends and family.

Sandy loved her family with every fiber of her being. Lovingly called “Bubby” by so many, some thought it was her first name. She embraced and adored being a grandmother especially.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 19th at 11am at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046, Lot 17, Section 268. Shiva will be observed immediately following the service and from 4 pm - 9 pm for three nights at the home of Gayle and Joseph Martin.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to an organization of your choice.
