The following obituary was written by Bruce’s family.

Bruce Beattie, beloved husband of Joanne Beattie, father of Cary Beattie, and proud grandfather of Ted and Josie Maguire passed away Friday October 13 at the age of 72. He is survived by his sister Debbie and her husband Reed Horting, and an extended family of loving aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Born and raised in Hatboro-Horsham, he ventured all the way to Indiana for college and saw more of the world when he joined the Navy in 1969. He was a proud vet and supported veterans organizations. When he returned to the area he joined his father, uncles, and brother-in-law working for the Philadelphia Electronic Company and stayed with PECO for more than 30 years.

A lover of all things local, he lived for Phillies games, Yuengling, and trying local wines. Bruce was a passionate reader of civil war history, he was especially interested in local history, researching the history of Buck’s County long rifles. Bruce's life was marked by an unquenchable thirst for learning and a deep love for his community's history. He was often found with his nose in a local history book, unearthing fascinating tales of days gone by and sharing them with anyone who would listen. His passion for the past was a gift to his family. Joanne was his constant companion exploring local heritage and crafts. He instilled in his daughter a deep respect for the past and the importance of preserving it for future generations.

His viewing was held on Wednesday, October 18th at Wetzel and Son, 501 Easton Road Willow Grove, PA 19090 beginning at 10:00 AM. Service followed at 11:00 AM with interment taking place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Friends and family were invited to attend and pay their respects. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Bruce's name.
