Mary Ann Sullivan of North Wildwood, New Jersey died Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 6902 Oakley Street. She was 88 years old. Mary Ann was born July 22, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph Charles Schmanek and the late Mary Anna Schmanek (nee - Suder). She is the beloved wife of the late Eugene J. Sullivan III; mother of Eugene J. Sullivan IV and his wife the late Barbara, also survived by her daughter Mary Ann Theresa Nixon; Grandmother of Stephen Yale and his wife Gionna, Rachel Ann Steir, and Brynn Ditsche; great grandmother of Stephen and Samantha Jean; sister of Irene Hamilton and her husband Thomas. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Charles, Gilbert, John, Andrew, and Gerald Schmanek and sister Barbara Cusatis.
Mary Ann was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She attended the Saints Peter and Paul School and John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School. Mary Ann worked for many years as a fundraiser for the Democratic City Committee. She became active at the Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge #1896, serving as their treasurer and playing shuffleboard with her friends. Mary Ann also enjoyed painting antiques in her free time.
