Elfreda “Fritzi” Gouger of Philadelphia passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2023, surrounded by her family. Elfreda was born in Philadelphia to Richard Hezel and Anna Baumgartner Hezel.  She married the love of her life, George Gouger, in 1962 after 5 years of dating.  They were truly best friends and enjoyed road trips, flea markets, lunches down by the river, and date nights at Cracker Barrel or Country Kitchen.  They recently celebrated 61 years of love and devotion at their church, St. Stephens alongside family and friends.  Elfreda was the proud mom of her three boys, George (Juliann), Richard (Susanne), and Harold “Buddy” Gouger (Laura).  Elfreda was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Jenna, Lauren, Morgan, Brennan, and Cayden Gouger.  She will be deeply missed by her little sister, Charlotte Schmidt (Ed), her many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Elfreda worked alongside her husband George running their family owned bakery, Holmesburg Bakery.  She loved interacting with customers and was an amazing decorator. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor and kindness. She also enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday school at St Petri’s Lutheran Church.  Fritzi’s smile lit up a room and she will be deeply missed by all.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 65 East Street Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.  Her graveside service followed at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 West County Line Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.
