The following was composed by Ruth’s family:
Ruth A. (Baer) Herbert, of Jenkintown, PA, died on January 25, 2024. She was 91 years old. She was born on August 3, 1932 in Bloomsburg, PA and graduated from Glen-Nor High School in Norwood, PA. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Dallas C. and Ruth M. (Albert) Baer. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Herbert and her sister, Mary Annabell Baer.
She is survived by two sons, David (Sandy) Herbert of Green Lane, PA and Daniel (Kim) Herbert of Jenkintown, PA. She had 5 grandchildren: David, Kristofer, Danielle (David), Sophie and Matthew (Daniel) along with 6 great grandchildren: Caden, Rylan (David), Amelia, Anthony (Kristofer), Giovanni, Isabella (Danielle) and 5 step grand children: Derek, Julie, Dana, Briana and Abbie and 8 step great grandchildren: Evy, Reed (Derek), Anna, Jack, Max (Julie), Kaci, Alex (Dana), Ted (Briana) plus 5 nieces and nephews.
She was a woman of strong faith, devoted to her family, loved gardening and nature (all that God has given us). With her husband, Bill, they traveled the northeast to visit nearly 60 lighthouses. In her later years, she was an active member at Rydal Park senior community where she enjoyed concerts, movies, and puzzle making with friends.
She will be missed by family and friends, and all who knew her.
Services were private at the family request.
