Elfriede M. "Ellie" Chac of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Albert Einstein Medical Center. She was 71 years old. Ellie was born August 28, 1946 in Vienna, Austria. She is the beloved wife of the late Lubomyr “Leo” Chac; she is survived by her mother Marian Spildener (nee - Kleitsch) and Peter Spildener; devoted mother of Christina Chac and her husband John Goodman; sister of Linda Spildener and John Spildener and his wife Stephanie. She will be sadly missed by her pets Rudy and Chloe.
Ellie emigrated to the United States with her mother in 1950 when she was 4 years old. They settled in Philadelphia where she graduated from Northeast High School in 1964. After high school, Ellie went to work for Bell Telephone where she met Leo Chac in April of 1966. The two were married in January 1968 at the Ukrainian Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA. They lived for a short time with family before moving into their longtime home in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia where they raised their daughter Christina.
Ellie was artistic and loved playing the piano. She enjoyed listening to all types of music especially oldies and later Irish Tenors. Ellie loved having pets. She was fastidious in her home and did yard work and maintenance around the house until she was no longer able to. She was proud of her home and family.
Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.
