Richard S. Griffin of Warminster, Pennsylvania died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster. He was 92 years old. Richard was born September 24, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late George Griffin and the late Hetta Griffin (nee - Coker). He is the beloved husband of 61 years of Virginia “Ginny” Griffin; father of Michael Griffin; Mark Griffin, and John Griffin; grandfather of Michael T. Griffin. He was predeceased by his siblings: Dorothy, George, William, Lloyd, and Alice.
Richard was born, raised, and educated in the Tioga section of Philadelphia. He graduated from Simon Gratz High School and continued his education at West Chester State Teachers College. Richard was a devoted elementary school teacher. Richard was a proud Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of American Legion Post #798. He enjoyed photography and was a member of the Warminster Amateur Radio Club. Richard enjoyed target and trap shooting at Bucks County Fish and Game and was a lifelong Eagles Fan.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 11:30 A.M. and funeral service at 12:30 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service and military honors rendered by the United States Air Force followed at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.
